Smarter travel: by bus

As in previous years, the NMBS/SNCB station at Leuven will act as the hub for public transport. De Lijn will provide a fast, continuous bus service between Leuven Station and the festival site in Werchter. Buses will travel in a loop between Leuven Station and Werchter.

If you're heading for the festival field, you can board the bus at Leuven Station from 10am. The buses run continuously until 8pm. When you're ready to go home, you can take the bus from 10pm until 2am.

If you're travelling with the Werchter Boutique e-train ticket, the shuttle bus is included in the price.

No Werchter Boutique e-train ticket? You can buy a ticket for the De Lijn shuttle bus only. Tickets are valid for outward and return journeys on the special shuttle buses between Leuven Station and the Werchter festival site. Buying your bus ticket in advance is recommended.

Where can you buy them?

  • Buy an SMS ticket by sending 'EVENT' to 4884 and show the SMS ticket you'll receive when getting on the bus (€7 + €0.15 operator charge)
  • Buy your ticket up to 14 days in advance from the Lijnwinkels in Vlaams-Brabant (€8)
  • Buy your ticket on the day at the mobile or permanent Lijnwinkel at Leuven Station (€8).

Season tickets or other tickets are not valid for the shuttle buses.

By car or motorbike

Drivers are recommended to take the more direct route to the festival from their point of departure. That way, arrivals and departures will be more spread and there will be less traffic jams. Follow the signposts and put out the GPS if you don’t want to get lost! From the highway, you will be directed to the nearest available car park. Parking your car costs 15 euro.

  • From Antwerp: take the E19 in the direction of Brussels and follow the signposting
  • From Brussels: follow the messages on the road signs on the ring road of Brussels
  • From Liège: take the E314 in the direction of Genk and follow the signposting
  • From Genk/Hasselt: take the E314 in the direction of Leuven and follow the signposting

May we advise carpooling? Travelling with friends is twice the fun. Tip: don't drink and drive, assign a designated driver.

Kiss & ride

Are you having yourself dropped off and picked up? The Leuven train station is the ideal location. You can park for free during 30 minutes on the P1 Parking (Martelarenlaan). A festival shuttle bus will take you to the festival. See 'by bus' for more info.

For those living in the vicinity of the festival, a few kiss & ride zones are located nearby. Follow the signposting 'kiss & ride'. You can only stop for a quick load-in or load-out. Parking on the kiss & ride zone is not allowed. Please keep in mind the roads to the kiss & ride zones might be congested!

  • Zone B: Kapelstraat – Rotselaar (dropping off only! After the festival this zone is NOT accessible)
  • Zone C: Tremelobaan – Werchter
